FAQ
The basics
What is 6E Cube Game?+
A free browser app for the 3x3 cube: a 3D cube you can turn, a solver that shows every move, a timer with averages and a notation trainer. Some people search for it as 6E Cube Games; it is the same site.
What do I need to use it?+
A phone, tablet or computer with a recent browser. Open the site and the cube is ready. There is no download and no sign-up.
Is it really free?+
Yes. There are no purchases anywhere on the site, not even optional ones, and no account to create.
Which cubes does it support?+
The 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 and 5x5 cubes in the Play tab and on the leaderboard, all with the standard six colours. The step-by-step solver is 3x3 only for now. Other shapes are planned.
FAQ
The solver
How do I enter my cube?+
Hold it white centre up and green centre towards you, pick a colour, then tap the stickers on the 3D cube or on the flat net. Every colour must appear nine times; the palette counts for you.
Why does the solver say the position is impossible?+
A real cube cannot have one twisted corner, one flipped edge or exactly two swapped pieces. A sticker was almost certainly entered wrongly; the app highlights the pieces to re-check. If the cube was taken apart, it may have been reassembled in an unsolvable state.
How long is a solution?+
About 19 to 22 moves. The solver uses the two-phase method, which finds near-optimal solutions in a fraction of a second.
Why does the first solve take a few seconds?+
The solver builds its lookup tables on your device the first time you open the Solve tab. After that every solve is nearly instant until you close the page.
Can I follow the solution on my real cube?+
That is what it is for. Keep the same grip you used to enter the colours and copy each move as the cube on screen performs it. Step back if you lose your place.
FAQ
Playing and timing
How do I turn a layer?+
Swipe a sticker in the direction it should move, tap a notation key, or on a computer press the letter (U R F D L B, Shift for anticlockwise). Drag the dark background to rotate your view.
How does the timer start?+
On your first turn after a scramble. It stops by itself when every face is one colour. The solve is then saved with its move count.
What are Ao5 and Ao12?+
Averages of your last 5 or 12 solves with the best and worst removed. They are the standard measure of speed because one lucky solve cannot distort them.
Where are my times kept?+
In this browser on this device, and, if you are logged in, on the leaderboard under your player name. Clearing site data or the Clear button removes the local list only.
Does the animation slow down fast solvers?+
No. The clock and the solved check run on a logical cube that updates the instant you move; the 3D cube snaps to catch up when input is faster than its animation.
How do I get on the leaderboard?+
Register a player name, then solve on the timer as usual. Each finished solve is posted automatically, replayed on the server to confirm it really solves the scramble, and ranked by your best single per puzzle.
FAQ
Learning
Can 6E Cube Game teach me to solve the cube?+
Yes. The how-to-solve guide walks through the seven-step beginner method, the notation page explains every move and the Learn tab shows each algorithm on a cube you can watch.
How long does it take to learn?+
Most people solve their first cube within a few hours of practice spread over a week, and reach two or three minutes within a month.
FAQ
Devices and the app
Does it work offline?+
Yes, after one online visit. The cube, solver and timer run entirely in your browser.
Is there an app in a store?+
Not yet. Add the site to your home screen instead; it opens full screen like an app. The app page shows the steps for Android and iPhone.
Is 6E Cube Game connected with any cube brand?+
No. It is an independent site that uses the standard colour scheme and public notation. No manufacturer or competition body is involved.
Still stuck?
The solver guide covers colour entry in detail, the beginner method covers solving by hand, and the timer page explains the numbers. For anything else, use the contact page.
